Sharing Missions:  We will start sharing missions on Thursday, but won't get through all of them in one day.  It might be Friday, or the following Monday, before your child presents their mission in front of the class.  We spoke at length in class about HOW to share their projects.  They should be practicing out loud--not just in their heads--and their overall "brochure sharing" should take between 3-5 minutes.

PROGRESS REPORTS

We are at the midway point for the 2nd trimester.  I am currently finalizing grades for Progress Reports.  Only students performing below grade level will receive an official Progress Report. During the week of  1/23, you should anticipate receiving either a grade printout and/or a current progress report.  Your child should also be at about 50% of his/her AR goal, too!!  [Are you checking in on your child's progress??]

For those that want to participate...I sent home a Reading Log for the "Read to Succeed" program through Six Flags in November.  If you log 6 hours of reading on the log, you earn a FREE ticket to Discovery Kingdom.  Easy--you already read for KBAR--just log those minutes and you'll be done in no time!!  [I've only received one...is anyone else doing this...???]

Upcoming MAP Assessments

We will be taking the MAP test for the 2nd trimester [tomorrow] Tuesday, January 10th, Wednesday, January 11th (Reading), and Wednesday, January 18th (Math).  MAP Testing is given three times a year- fall, winter, and spring in order to assess and celebrate growth!

The first assessment was the baseline and showed us strengths and areas for growth.

Please refer to these documents for more clarification and information:  RIT to Smarter Balanced Target Scores and Parents' Guide to MAP.
