AM Clubhouse [PE] / Tardies

Image result for tardy student

I am noticing that lately more and more students are arriving after the 8:15 bell.

When it is not raining, "AM Clubhouse" [school-wide PE] starts promptly at 8:15 with The Pledge of Allegiance.  After the Pledge we do about 4 minutes of movement/stretching until 8:20.  This 5 minutes is not "wriggle room" to arrive by 8:20.  Students are expected to be on the blacktop--ready to go--by the 8:15 bell.   When it is raining, we will have AM Clubhouse inside the classroom.  This will start promptly at 8:15.

Students are considered TARDY when they are not in line on the blacktop at the 8:15 bell, or in the classroom by the 8:15 bell.

Student of the Month Changes

We have made some changes to our Student of the Month/Week program. In previous years we had a Student of the Month. This year we moved to a Student of the Week in order to recognize more children. We found the one week turn around was too fast to really make a celebration/recognition of these students. We will now recognize a Student of the Month on the 3rd Friday for the predetermined character trait [this month Being Safe]. The 4th Friday will be a teacher's choice for most improved [in any category].
Student of the Month (October 21st)
Most Improved Student (October 28)

Calling all Nelda Mundy DADS, Grandfathers, Uncles and other father figures! WE NEED YOU! Please join us for Pizza, Tuesday October 4th at 6:00 in the Nelda Mundy Library, to learn all about this AMAZING program and how you can help us make it a success for our kiddos!
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) !!!
Why are we doing this???
1) To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
WATCH D.O.G.S. began in 1998 in a single school in Springdale, Arkansas and has since grown into a national recognized program that has brought hundreds of thousands of fathers and father figures into the school classrooms and hallways across the country, creating millions of hours of “in school” volunteer time and having a tremendously positive impact on the educational process.
Check out the program here: http://www.fathers.com/
We hope you will mark this event on your calendar and join us to learn more about this AWESOME program!
