THANK YOU!!!

Thank you parents for making our Fun Run a success! The kids had a great time and earned more than $46 per lap as a class for our school. That's AMAZING! It also earned them some extra recess on Monday. They deserved it. Thank you for supporting our school.

Solano County Library

Below are some programs that are sponsored by the public library:

Read to a Dog
Children can practice their reading skills with friendly, specially trained and certified dogs. This program happens several times a week at the Fairfield Cordelia Library: Mondays 3:00 – 4:00; Tuesdays 3:00 – 4:00; Thursdays 2:00 – 3:00; and some Saturdays at noon. The monthly schedule can be found at http://solanolibrary.evanced.info/signup/Calendar

This program is especially valuable for reluctant or struggling readers. The dogs make the experience fun. They are patient and don’t criticize, allowing the students to relax. Paws for Reading cites a UC Davis Study: “UC Davis researchers studied the reading abilities of children who read to dogs and the findings were astounding. ‘After reading to a dog once a week for ten weeks, standardized tests showed reading fluency increased on average thirty percent. Below grade readers improved a startling forty-six percent.’" Learn more: http://www.pawsforhealing.org/pawsreading.htm

Free Online Tutoring
Free chat tutoring for grades K-12, college intro and adult learners. Every day, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. in English and Spanish. http://solanolibrary.com/

FUN RUN for Room 504

Kids are loving the Fun Run activities and prizes at school. Activities take place at lunch and prizes for amount of pledges collected are delivered at the end of the day. Many of our kids have already made their videos which are super cute.
[I made my own one here...HA]. There is a school wide challenge to get every kid in each class to make a video, so let's try to get them all done by Monday. The kids have set our Pledge-O-Meter awards and are hoping to earn a Movie Day if we get $80 pledged per lap. As of this minute we are at $9/lap.
THANK YOU!!!

Whooo's Reading

Whooo's Reading

We are trying out a new Reading Program called Whooo's Reading. It is FREE and it is similar to AR. Kids can log on at home or school and take quizzes and write reviews for our class. At this point it is a "May Do" as the kids explore it. In a few weeks a weekly quiz may become a "Must Do" for a grade to demonstrate reading comprehension.

Progress Report Portal opens Today

Image result for grades

Your child's Progress Report will be available starting today on Illuminate. No Progress Reports will be sent home on paper. Our District is going paperless. You will also have access to my online grade book to see grades your child received on each assignment. You will also be able to see missing assignments and/or work that needed more attention.   The grade book has closed for this period so there are no more retakes. You can go to Google Classroom to view comments I made on your student's work.
Your child has 6 weeks to improve before Report Cards.  Please be supportive and remember this is 4th grade Boot Camp. They are getting it, but some of their early marks may reflect them reaching up to the rigor level we expect at 4th.

You've got GREAT kids and I LOVE teaching them.
