Book Exchange!!

Before we leave for break, we will have a book exchange.  If your child wants to participate, s/he needs to bring in a wrapped, unmarked book.  The book should be good for both boys & girls--and appropriate for our reading levels.  Every student that brings in a book will get a different book in exchange through a fun ["White Elephant" type] game!!

Another Coloma payment is due!!  We will need to make a second payment before we leave on break.  If you haven't done so already, please send in your second payment [either $75 or the remaining balance of $150] and the permission slip by December 14th.  Thanks!!

Toys for Tots

Student Council will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots from December 3-13. Drop off toys before school at either unloading zone. If your child is in the 4th or 5th grade, be sure they get their name on the clipboard if they're interested in playing Air Force dodgeball on Thursday, 12/13 from 2:20-3:20.

Grade Weights

A great question came up in class after we reviewed our own grades in Illuminate. "How come if I have more As than Bs, do I only have a B?" The answer lies in the weighting of grades. A quick activity done as classwork may earn a 10/A+ but only be worth 5 points in the grade book. An end of Unit Math test that covers 3 weeks of material and earns an A+ is worth 100 points. An A on the Unit Test is worth much more than an A on classwork. You can't take a simple average of the grades listed on the grade sheet because different tasks have different weights.

Mundy Book Fair

Mundy’s Book Fair is coming up right after the Thanksgiving break (Nov 26 to Dec 1). This year, we have a new item - Gift Certificates that may be purchased for Mundy teachers. The Gift Certificates are great to give as a gift during the holiday season, even as an early Christmas gift. Mundy teachers will then use the Gift Certificate during the book fair. You can also gift them to your friends.  

There will be gift certificates to purchase in advance of the book fair if you would like to give a teacher a gift certificate for the book fair. They will also be available for purchase during the fair. Halloween Candy Contest

Bring in Halloween candy--if you can part with it!--from now through Nov. 8th.  We are having a contest to see which class can bring in the most.  I am impressed with what is coming in so far....and my ability NOT to eat it!!  Keep it coming!!

4th Grade 2018 Holiday Tree

The Holiday Season is just around the corner and its that time for our Holiday Trees.  This years theme is Family Night In.  We have come up with some fun activities for families at home.  Please check out the list and sign up for anything you can.  If you don't want to shop, monetary donations are welcomed as well.  Please turn in all donations ASAP--the due date was October 29th-- so we can start decorating.  The trees are due the first week of November and will be on display in the office, before our Holiday Fair.  Thank you for always donating and making our school so amazing.
