Have a FABULOUS SPRING BREAK!
We are out from March 24-April 2nd. School resumes on Tuesday, April 3rd! The Superintendent has asked us to refrain from emails over the break, so that we can relax and recharge. Please enjoy yourselves and be safe!

IMPORTANT ~ Testing Dates
We have the dates when we will be CAASPP testing (that's the big state test they take in spring)! We will take the ELA tests 4/23, 4/24, 4/25, and 4/26. We will take the math tests 5/8, 5/9, and 5/10. Please do not schedule appointments or vacations on these days. Thanks!
CAASPP & MAP Practice Tests
CAASPP Training/Practice Tests
CAASPP Testing begins April 23rd

MAP Practice tests are available online in ELA & Math for your student to practice at home.
MAP Testing will follow CAASP Testing
Student warmup tests have been replaced by practice tests. You can try the practice tests at https://practice.mapnwea.org. To practice taking MAP Growth, use 'grow' as the username, and 'grow' as the password.

4th Grade Biography Day
Fourth grade has traditionally had a "Biography Day", where students dressed up as an important person from history. This year we are going to do things a little bit differently (I did give the kids a little sneak peek)! Specific information and dates will be coming home after Spring Break...follow this blog to get the scoop!
I just wanted to give you a heads up, so if your child is inclined to read over the break (they should because they enjoy reading!), he/she may want to choose a simple biography to read. The "Who Is ___?" or "Who Was ___?" series are good ones to use for the project. We will be doing most of the project in class, starting in mid-April.

Third Trimester
It's hard to believe we are already in the last trimester of this year...where has the time gone?!!? Please keep in mind...this trimester is far shorter than the second--roughly 2.5 months vs. 4 months!! We've got a lot planned for the last part of the year. With the shorter trimester [& throw state testing in...], it's important for your child to stay focused--in class & on doing quality work--until the very end.
AR goals are set and due May 24th.
State Testing
State testing will be coming up in late April/early May. Please try not to schedule any appointments or family vacations during the last week of April and the first two weeks in May. It really makes it difficult for the kids to make up their tests.
Typing Practice
A parent asked for a place to practice typing/keyboarding to improve their child's skills. Here are some FREE sites recommended by the Mundy teachers. Enjoy!

Book Reports
The due date for our Book Reports has been extended to Tuesday, March 20th. I hope this gives kids a little more time to feel they can put their best effort into their work.
District Writing Assessment
Our class will be taking the District Writing Assessment on Monday, March 12, and Tuesday, March 13. If your child would like to bring headphones to watch/listen to the video, they are welcome to. I have earbuds for each child in the class, so no worries if you don't have any!
Absent Work
If your child is absent from school, please have him/her take home the work they missed in class. Or...email me and I can put it in the office for someone to pick up. This is especially important in math, as we move quickly through the lessons. They should complete it and return it to me as soon as they can so I can take a look at it.
March Book Order
The March Scholastic Book order came going home today.
